Deric is an AI policy researcher at Convergence Analysis currently leading the Governance Recommendations Team. His research is on foundational AI governance policies (e.g. chip registries), soft nationalization scenarios, and economic impacts stemming from AI.
Previously, he was the fifth software engineer and the lead of various projects at Alchemy, an Ethereum infrastructure startup now valued at $10.2 billion. At Alchemy, he created web3.university, a learning platform with over 200k students.
From 2015-2018, he was a rapid prototyping researcher at the Interaction Lab for Google X, where he led software UX explorations for a next-gen Google Glass. He invented and built the first "Babelfish" real-time translation feature for wireless earbuds, launched in 2017 on the original Pixel Buds.
Outside of work, he's into surfing, community living, and music production. He started and organize a camping & music festival now in its 6th year.
Deric graduated from Princeton with BS in Computer Science.
